Dating Advice

Do I have to say yes?

Before I bring out all the context of this question, I would like you to know something.

And that is, knowing the right time to say YES or NO to a favor or question.

Saying yes when you ought to say no can make a mark(good or bad) on your life, finances and even your relationship.

That’s why I’m bringing such a situation to you, so you can be sure you’re making the right decision.

Now back to the question above

Samantha asked me,

“Sarah, he asked me out on a date at the last minute, though I don’t feel like going but I feel obliged to say yes to him. How do I handle such a situation?”

I can understand you being in such a position especially when you don’t want to make him feel bad for saying no to him.

But choosing to go when you don’t feel like going is a bad decision already.

That’s why you have to find the right words to politely turn him down that wouldn’t make him feel bad…

And also make you feel confident that you made the right decision for yourself.

You can answer with…

“I’d love to go, but I can’t make it on short notice. If you could give me more of a heads-up next time so I can fit it into my plans?”

This is quite a nice response, instead of you getting triggered or making yourself feel you’ve been forced to.

Next time, he wouldn’t bring up anything(not just a date) on short notice anymore.

This would make you feel confident that you’re not being toyed around.

But note, it is a very different case when he asked you on that short notice and you feel like going.

Remember, the deal is for you not to be forced to do what you do not want to do
